• No In-Built Electronics -The guitar does not feature an inbuilt pickup, tuner and equaliser. If you are a beginner, you will not require a pickup and EQ. This should not be a dealbreaker. Look to get a guitar with an in-built pickup only if you are already performing on small stages and require a pickup.
• Accessories(2.5/5) — The guitar comes along with just a guitar bag. This according to me is no dealbreaker and not an important measure to consider while making a purchase.

Fender Squier SA150C does justice to the Fender name. it is well built, sounds bright, plays well and great guitar for beginners.

For the price, Fender SA 150C is a clear winner in this category. I highly recommend this guitar for all beginners, intermediate and even advanced players.

• Outstanding Looks (5/5) — Yamaha FS100c looks great, and is well finished. The guitar is available in two different colours, Natural and Black. Both of them look superb.
• Easily Available (5/5) — Yamaha FS100C is easily available across India across offline and online stores.
• Outstanding After Sales Support (5/5) — Yamaha India provides one of the best after-sales support in the country and is among one of the most reputed musical instrument’s brands.

Yamaha brand is well renowned. Yamaha FS 100C guitar is easily available, after-sales support is outstanding, and you cannot go wrong with this guitar. The reason this guitar ransk second is because its price is on the higherr side when comapred with Fender Squier.

I would recommend buying this guitar over fender if the Fender is not available and you are concerned about after sales service.

The reasons why this guitar is behind Yamaha FS100c are after sales and brand value. If you are not someone who is bothered about the brand name and after-sales, definitely go for this guitar.

How Scoring Is Done

I have used Weighted Averages. A Weighted Average is a calculation that takes into account the varying degrees of importance of the numbers in a data set.

All guitars of the same price category are scored based on how they perform in 10 Different Criteria(Refer to the table below).

I believe the most important aspect of any guitar is its tone, build quality, playability, and life.

So more importance is given to criteria like playability, build quality, tone, and life. Less importance is given to criteria like looks, accessories provided etc.

Here is how different criteria are weighted.

So for any guitar to rank higher, the guitar must perform well in playability, build, tone, and life criteria. These are the most important aspects of a good guitar.

E.g., If a Guitar X is performing good in criteria like accessories but is lacking behind in criteria like tone, then Guitar X will not rank higher.

On the other hand, if a Guitar Y is performing well in tone criteria but lacking in accessories, the Guitar Y will rank higher than compared to Guitar X.
